Hotels are the same in most cities, but Beirut is not like most cities. Why stay in a regular hotel when you can be a part of the Beiruti community at Hamra Urban Gardens (HUG)?
Spacious rooms hand-built by local craftsmen with local products for rent are just one of the several pieces that make HUG different. It is also home to the largest rooftop forest in the city, and one of the most famous Lebanese cafés: Beit Em Nazih. HUG also hosts a modern gym, the Muscle Up Workshop, that combines Lebanese hospitality and the must up-to- date equipment and classes. All of these facilities are open to everyone staying at HUG.
The location is the best! Just off Beirut’s main buzz, Hamra Street, it is near two major universities including the American University of Beirut, minutes walk from major culture and arts centers, the busy shopping streets of Hamra, and Beirut’s largest cluster of restaurants, bars and theaters.
A wide variety of rooms are available from dorm beds to suites. Everyone staying at HUG has internet access, traditional Lebanese breakfast 10am -12 noon at Beit Em Nazih (7$ per person per day) and access to all the facilities mentioned above.

Hamra Urban Gardens is wheelchair-accessible hotel with four wheelchair accessible rooms, ramps all the way, two elevators, and a wheelchair-accessible toilet. The ramps are designed in a way to escort the guests from the hotel parking lot to the rooms, with an access to all hotel amenities.
There are two types of the wheelchair-accessible room, there is the HUG King wheelchair-accessible room and the HUG Double wheelchair-accessible room. The King size room includes a king size bed with a sofa that can be used also as a sofa bed, and a large couch. On the other hand, we also offer a Double wheelchair-accessible room that includes two queen sized beds instead of one king bed, and a large couch, the Double room does not include any sofa.
Our rooms are designed with some standards that make it easier for any guest with special need to access this type of room such as:
- Bed’s height: the beds in these rooms are lower than beds in other rooms to make it easier for the guest to get in and out of their beds.
- Toilets: the toilets in these rooms are designed especially for guests with special needs as for the toilets have higher bowl than a normal toilet which makes it easier for the guest to stand up, in addition to special adjustments in the shower area to make it more and more easy for the guest to feel more comfortable.
- Closet: the closet in these types of rooms is also designed in a way that the guest can easily put or take any piece of cloth he/she wants while he/she is sitting on his wheelchair.

Cancelation Policy

Upon reservation, the total room charge must be paid.

Cancellations made more than 5 days prior to the date of arrival will incur no charges, and the complete payment will be refunded.

Cancellations made within 5 days prior to the date of arrival will incur 25% from the total room charge as a cancellation fee, and 75% of the total amount will be refunded.
Check-In & Check-Out
Rooms are available for check-in after 2:00 pm on the day of your arrival, unless prior arrangements have been made. We respectfully request that you check out before 12:00 pm on the morning of your departure; otherwise an additional charge may apply.

Upon check-in, guests must hand in their passport or (Lebanese) Identity card to make a copy.

Payment can be made by cash, credit-card or online upon booking.

If you are staying for more than one week, your bill must be settled every 7 days with the remaining amount covered at check-out.

Room keys should be handed in upon check-out, if lost $3.00 USD per key card will be charged.
While Staying

Smoking is not permitted in any rooms or indoor public areas with the exception of the smoking section of Beit Em Nazih and the rooftop. If we discover further evidence of smoking in the rooms, a penalty of $100.00 USD will be charged.

Only the person/people registered at the reception upon check-in may use the accommodations and have free access to facilities at HUG.

Hazardous material of an explosive, corrosive and flammable nature are not allowed on HUG premises.

You are encouraged to store all valuables in the hotel safety deposit box available in your room and avoid leaving such items visible in plain sight when you’re not present in the room. HUG is not responsible for lost items.

Please vacate the room prior to 12:00 O’clock on the checkout date. Further occupancy beyond 12:00 O’clock will trigger an additional charge for the stay.

Do not disturb other community members with loud noises in the hotel rooms, hallways and public areas between 10:00 PM and 8:00 AM.

Pets are not allowed in accommodations at HUG.

Bed linens (pillows, blankets, etc.) and towels are intended for you to use while staying at HUG and are not to be taken out.

BREAKFAST
A variety of traditional Lebanese breakfast (buffet when conditions permit) including juice,
filter coffee, Lebanese coffee, and tea is served mornings 8am-12pm
in Beit Em Nazih, which located on the first floor. Breakfast can be
purchased à la carte at the restaurant or as a discounted meal plan
from the reception desk.

AIRPORT PICKUP
Airport pickup and drop-off car can be arranged by phone, email or via our
website when booking. In case you would like to arrange for a last
minute drop-off or pickup, please call the reception desk.
Please note that any cancelation without prior notice will be charged full
price, and delay to scheduled pick up will be charged an additional
$10.00 USD per hour
LAUNDRY
Self-Service Laundry:
HUG has several laundry machines and driers for use by community members.
Two hours of washer/dryer are $5.00 USD. Please pay at the reception. The
receptionist will grant you access to the machines and provide
cleaning products if needed.
Available daily: 10:00am – 8:00pm
Full-Service Laundry:
Laundry services are available at the reception. Just drop of your clothes.
We will count them and send them to the laundry. You will receive
them the same day if you send them in the morning, or the next day,
if you send them in the afternoon.
INTERNET
Wi-fi internet access is available free of charge for all guests throughout
the HUG premises. Please ask the reception agent for your voucher
containing the login info. To access the internet on your device,
open your browser and enter the username and password.
Please note that Lebanon is ranked among the worst countries in the world
for internet speed, and, while we have installed the best connection
that is available, the speed is not up to international standards. We
ask for your patience while the Lebanese government does almost
nothing to improve the situation.
WATER
All water used on the HUG premises is safe to drink. It has been purified
and filtered by our onsite desalination plant.
The drinking water that is available in your room is served in the
traditional Lebanese bri2 (pitcher).
NOTE: Elsewhere in Lebanon the water is not safe to drink.
ICE
Complimentary ice is available in the ice machines at the end of the hallway on
floors 4 and 5. Ice buckets are provided.
ELECTRICITY
The electricity in your room is 220 volts and is available 24 hours per
day. It is activated by inserting your room key into the box near the
door.
In the case of extreme electricity shortages (more than 6 hours per day)
extra electricity charges may be applied.

ROOM CLEANING
Your room will be cleaned daily between 10am and 4pm. Sheets and towels
are changed every third day. Help us help you by putting your trash
in the trash bins and hanging up your towels.

Book a car or a guided a tour around town or around Lebanon. We work with
only the most trusted drivers, guides and tour operators to ensure
that your experience is safe, comfortable and fun. Just ask our
experienced receptionists and they will take care of the rest.

FACILITIES
Not just a restaurant, Em Nazih is a home away from home. Lebanese food is prepared by our lovely chef and dear mother Em Nazih whose home made style is well known and loved by Beirutis.
During the day Bayt Em Nazih offers a quiet space for study, a business meeting, or a quick lunch break. It is a self- service café, so order at the bar and stay as long as you like – a waiter won’t be bothering you every minute.
We recommend that you do not miss our Thursday, Friday and Saturday night events. Come and enjoy the best Lebanese bands and dance all night (reservations are recommended).

Cool off and relax at our rooftop pool, restaurant and bar. A large pool 1.5 meters deep and a children’s pool .5 meters deep are open from April to November (and in winter when conditions allow) and monitored by trained lifeguards. Sandwiches, nachos, salads, juices, cocktails and other refreshments are available day and night.
Weekly events, featuring some of Beirut’s best rock/alternative bands and DJs are always happening upstairs. Keep an eye out for posters in the elevator or just pop in and ask what’s coming up.

Muscle up workshop is a full-service gym available to all guests. It features up to date cardio, weight machines and free weights, as well as weekly fitness classes and personal training (available for an additional charge).
Our trainers are available from 8am to midnight, and are dedicated to help every member guest achieve their health and fitness goals. Whether you are a beginner or an enthusiast, every program, product and experience we offer begins and ends with your comfort and satisfaction.
